KGUP FM Emerge Radio is currently seeking music in genres: Pop, Rock, and Alternative songs to add to our diverse library.
On April 12, 2012, KGUP FM was launched as a full-time independent to mainstream radio station featuring only the finest emerging music artists. Over the past two years, KGUP has grown into something so much better than the standard independent or FM radio station.
Why are we different?
Do you remember how MTV and VH1 used to be? It was a time when music had a real variety. They played THE best new music around anytime of the day, but through greed, these music video networks slowly removed the very thing we grew to love.
Here at KGUP, we practice the same principals that MTV and VH1 orginally intended to give its audience ...with a variety of awesome music! Not what the major labels pay so you to hear the same dozen artists over and over, like what we hear now on today's popular FM stations. We realize there's an entire untapped resource of artists out there and we are determined to find them.
The Approval Process:
Music on KGUP isn't chosen based on algorithms and listening patterns. Songs are chosen based on one primary factor....the human ear. Here at KGUP, our panel of judges to listen and review each and every song that is submitted to us. Each day, we listen to over a dozen songs. Sometimes, we will listen to one song numerous times, so each song is given a fair chance.
