In 1890, the United States army massacred 150 Lakota people at Wounded Knee. The bloody shootout began after U.S. troops attempted to force more than 350 men, women and children to be resettled in Omaha, Nebraska. When several refused, the army began shooting. Afterward, a three-day blizzard froze the bodies of the dead and killed the wounded. See how since 1986, the descendants of those killed at Wounded Knee Creek have recreated the event.
